        Brief Biography- Berenice Findle Post

Berenice was born in Irwin, Pennsylvania but grew up in Prospect Park, Penna.  She began her training in radiologic technology in 1936 at Philadelphia General Hospital under the direction of Dr. Bernard Widman.  Following her training from 1937-45, she was employed at St. Luke’s Hospital in Philadelphia, Pa., first as a staff technologist and then as Chief Technologist.

In 1939, Berenice joined the Philadelphia Society, followed by her registry and membership in ASRT in 1941, and became a member of the Pennsylvania society in 1942.  In 1945, she started a long and happy career as a technologist in the private office of Dr. Joseph Post, where she practiced until her retirement on 1966.  She became Mrs. Joseph Post in 1962.

The Pennsylvania Society of Radiologic Technologist has seen Berenice serve them in many official capacities such as, Director and member of the Board of Directors, Vice-President, and Counselor for ASRT and Editor of the Keystone Target plus numerous committee appointments.

The PhilaSRT has been the recipient of many years of devoted service.  She has served in all its official capacities.  Berenice was presented with a Life Membership Award in 1966.  She was among the core members of the PhilaSRT technologists who were instrumental in the formation of the Mid-Eastern conference.  This energetic lady has filled most PhilaSRT offices.

The PhilaSRT appreciates the benefits it has received from the inexhaustible talent of Berenice, her ability to create and organize.  In 1979, the PhilaSRT membership ratified the concept of an outstanding technologist award.  The award was named for its’ first recipient, Berenice F. Post, RT and was presented at the May 1980 Presidential Banquet.

The PhilaSRT presents this award to formally acknowledge exceptional members for past and present merit and service to Radiologic technology in general and the PhilaSRT in particular and various areas outside the profession.  Any active member may nominate any other active member whom they consider to have fulfilled the eligibility requirements.
